Medium-sized ceramic goblet bowls by Hikari Masuda, from the exhibition "serious PLAY", August 2025 at DEA EAST.

Shaped like a large goblet, these gorgeous bowls are mounted on a pedestal base and feature six playful animal designs rendered Hikari's iconic blue and white - Otter, Fox, Lion, Crane, Polar Bear or Cat.

Perfect for dessert or a scoop of gelato, but also perfect just on their own.

Hikari Masuda is a ceramicist based in Tokoname - recognised as one of Japan's six ancient kilns with a ceramic history reaching back more than 1000 years. 

Masuda's joyful, playful work is rich in vivid folkloric depictions of animals and mythical creatures, drawn from both Japanese and western traditions. Her restless, masterful making incorporates myriad forms and glazes, producing a dazzling array of work that's attracted a passionate following in Japan and Australia.
