Michael McIntyre is a multi-disciplinary and award winning artist working in Patonga, on the Central Coast north of Sydney, Australia.

He has a Bachelor Fine Art in Textiles from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, and a Bachelor Fine Arts Honours in Painting at the National Art School in Sydney. McIntyre has worked in the Arts for over 20 years in preparatory and administration roles.

He has exhibited his work across Australia - most notably at PICA, Damien Minton Presents, Flinders Street Gallery, was commissioned by Mirvac in association with The National Art School to produce a public artwork realised in Underwood Street in Sydney's CBD and is a founding Director of the Artist Run Initiative Stacks Projects.

McIntyre has a multi-faceted art-practice encompassing drawing, textiles, painting, installation and craft. His approach being process driven with material manipulation and experimentation the primary mode of development. His work is always personal and hand-made, a remnant from his early training in textile arts, the work is often concerned with existential and environmental themes and modes of making and representation.

21 NOV 2020 • Moonlight Garden 

In November 2020 Michael's work was shown in a DEA exhibition entitled ‘Moonlight Garden’ with ceramic artist Stephanie Phillips, in the showroom of award winning interior design team YSG Studios.
