In Japanese culture, March the 3rd is the day of hinamatsuri, a traditional Japanese festival celebrating the happiness and well-being of girls.
Families often mark the occasion with elaborate, multi-level displays of dolls - the pinnacle of which are the ohinasama and odairisama dolls, representing the empress and emperor, or princess and prince.
This delightful figurine is Hikari's playful take on the honoured couple - rendered as a sweet pair of bears - handbuilt from porcelain and lovingly hand-painted in bright, traditional colours and gold lustre.
