This sweet little vessel is Hikari's joyful representation of the famous Japanese good luck charm, the daruma! 

With a small spout on one side, its perfect for serving sake, or even for pouring milk or sauce.

Hikari Masuda is a ceramicist based in Tokoname - recognised as one of Japan's six ancient kilns with a ceramic history reaching back more than 1000 years. 

Masuda's joyful, playful work is rich in vivid folkloric depictions of animals and mythical creatures, drawn from both Japanese and western traditions. Her restless, masterful making incorporates myriad forms and glazes, producing a dazzling array of work that's attracted a passionate following in Japan and Australia.
