Japanese "Akabeko" red cow figures, hand made using the "Hariko" technique. 

In red white and gold, these "nodding head" cows represent the legendary "Akabeko" red bull, which embodies a zealous devotion to Buddha. 

In two sizes - small and standing, or large and sitting.

In Japanese, "Hariko" means paper craft. It is said that this papier-mache technique came down from China in around the Muromachi period. It spread around Japan and has been used for such as folk toys.
