Beautiful teacups glazed with shira-hagi over tenmoku, by Terunobu Hirata.
In a classic Japanese teacup shape, these elegant vessels feature a creamy shira-hagi (white, straw-ash) glaze, thickly layered over a rich tenmoku (dark enamel) glaze, leaving a pronounced ridge halfway down the cup, which fits nicely under the thumb and finger and makes them a delight to hold.
While the two cups in this series are sold individually (the second is slightly taller), they also work beautifully as a pair.
