Simple, elegant and beautifully balanced, this divine vessel slopes inwards from a wide base and features a large, graceful loop handle opposite a wide, minimal spout.

It's finished in one of her four, signature, textured glazes - a rich, powdery dark blue with dark brown highlights.

Nobue Ibaraki Ⓒ2020 ARATAKENJI

Nobue Ibaraki is a ceramic artist, based in Sano, Japan. After initially studying fashion, but later embracing ceramics, Ibaraki is influenced by her love of ancient Persian art, and her work blends concepts both Old and New, Western and Asian.

All her work is painstakingly hand built and she works in a strict palette of four colours. The unique, metallic aspect of her finishes is the result of the alchemy that occurs during firing - achieved through the chemical reaction of natural glazes containing cobalt or copper and iron rich clay sourced from Tajimi.
