Jiyoung Jung is a Korean born artist and designer. She began her career in ceramics as a tableware designer for a high-end dinnerware brand, before launching her own ceramic brand, Heart in Ceramics.
Using simple lines and referencing her coastal home, Jiyoung designs purposeful objects which bring beauty and pleasure to everyday ritual. The logo for Heart in Ceramics is a swallow which in a classic Korean fairytale brings seeds of luck to good people.
Jiyoung's ceramic pieces are somewhere between art, craft and design and often features birds, hearts, stars, hands and sea shells. Her pieces stand out as simple and romantic, which makes them fit for special occasions such as weddings or holidays!
White and gold are Jiyoungs signature colours whereas Sydney and Seoul are her two homes.
We first encountered Jiyoung's work as part of our Friends of DEA x Claypool exhibition in March 2023, and we soon realised its grace and refinement would make it a perfect fit amongst our many talented potters.
