Born in 1984, Tetsuya Ōzawa lives and works in the ancient ceramic town of Tokoname, Japan. After studying Fine Arts at Nagoya University, he apprenticed under ceramic master, Yoshikawa Masamichi.
In his work, executed with exceptional restraint and refinement, there's a nod to classicism, yet also a sense of lightness and a modern fresh brilliance wrought into his surfaces - achieved by his special take on kofuki, a traditional glazing and finishing technique. Originally his palette was restricted to four traditional colours - white, black, rust and his signature yellow, however he has recently perfected two new and equally stunning colour ways - blue and sage green.
