Large stoneware vase by Rosemary Irons from October 2025.

This gorgeous, organic, cylindrical vessel, slightly wider at the centre and with a flared rim, features washes of Rosemary's snowy white semi-textured glaze, detailed with tiny speckles, over an exposed clay base.

Rosemary Irons layers glaze, slip, and occasionally ash to create depth and movement throughout her works. Her surfaces shift from silky, marble-like finishes to glassy deposits and textural moments, echoing the diversity of her natural landscape.

Iron’s painterly application of mineral slip and liquid porcelain evoke foggy mountain ranges, rocky terrains and Red Gums, while the refractive potential of porcelain emits a soft glow when hit by natural light.

Rosemary's work includes functional ceramics inspired by urban and natural environment of her home in Mt Cooper, north of Melbourne, Australia.

Her current work focuses on functional ware for the shared joy of eating, and some of the forms are linked to Arabic style cooking vessels, stemming from her time in the middle east.

All works are layered with slips and glazes to create matt, glossy, opaque and transparent surfaces in the finished work.
