This astonishing vase by Japanese artist Tetsuya Kowari is truly a sight to behold. Combining architectural and organic elements in a serpentine display of staggering beauty, this silver faceted vase seems to be in a constant state of motion.
Deep cut facets are liberally glazed, resulting in sparkling rivers that cascade like waterfalls down rocky crevices. Here Kowari has successfully emulated the majesty of epic misty mountain ranges, the minerals of which are used in creating his luminous glazes.
The impact of this work is similar to that of Sumi-e ink paintings, a spontaneous and expressive impression that captures the undiluted essence of our natural world.
Nb. this is a hand made piece so measurements are approximate.
Made in Japan.
