Kutani ware is traditionally from the Ishikawa district in Japan and this piece was found in Kanazawa. Known for its bright and bold colours as an escape from the long harsh and cold winters by the sea, the makers would use only red, purple, brown, yellow, green on a white background or often decorating the entire piece.
These pieces were produced as a contemporary version of the traditional style in limited numbers by contemporary artist Nahomi Murat.
We managed to pick up the last available in Kanazawa - known for the freshest seafood in Japan.
